Starter EBdy WP 50.jpg (39686 bytes) Starting signal (Ealing Broadway, District) showing the two-aspect stop signal for the main route (WP 54), with a rail gap indicator below and a shunt signal below that (WP 50).This picture illustrates the clutter of equipment and information added over the years in a rather haphazard manner.

The main signal has a rail gap indicator and shunt signal below it.  There is a "D" board, indicating that de-icing equipment on trains should be switched off.  There is also a signal telephone box with black and white diagonal stripes on the front and, above that, a box containing the local protection key switch.  This is used to keep all signals at danger if necessary to allow emergency access to parts of the track by staff.

In addition to all this, there are safety notices and instructions to train operators scattered around.
